Ditch the sweets and tone up those love-handles!

Happy “Single’s Awareness Month!”

It’s February and love is in the air…..but some of us “singles” are having sudden allergy attacks! Being single isn’t easy, but if weight loss is your goal, then February is going to be a great month for you! While others are getting ready to get sweet on each other, we should be working hard to reduce our sugar intake. Are you ready to shed some pounds with me?!?

Did you know that the typical North American consumes 34 teaspoons (136 g) of sugar per day, but the USDA recommends no more than 10 teaspoons (40g) of sugar per day just to maintain your current weight. If weight loss is your goal, then it is time to cut down on the sweets. Excessive sugar intake results in a decreased ability to digest carbohydrates and simultaneously increases our insulin response to the foods we eat. When our insulin response is high, fat storage will occur primarily in the “love-handles” and upper-back regions.

It’s time to work on those “love handles!” So, while our non-single friends are out celebrating their love for pasta dinners and chocolate truffle deserts, let’s implement a low-sugar diet and add some fun twisting exercises to target our obliques!
