Spice it up!

I love chicken! Whether baked, grilled, roasted, pan-seared, or boiled, I always look forward to eating chicken for lunch and dinner. But recently, I have felt incredibly bored with chicken, and at the same time unwilling to switch up my main protein source. Instead, I am learning how to enjoy my protein by spicing it up!

I have always been a BIG fan of cultural foods. Although I love gourmet cooking, it’s hard to justify spending so much time in the kitchen cooking fancy foods for myself, so I have decided to expand my palate by shopping more at my favorite flavor store…..Cost Plus (World Market).

I love Cost Plus because I can find items there that I can’t find anywhere else. I take the short-cut to cooking Indian, Moroccan, and Thai dishes by purchasing rubs for my chicken. Cost-Plus provides a variety of pre-made meat “rubs” that are calorie-free and very low in sodium. When I find a rub I like, I simply buy the products listed under the “ingredients” and create my own rub from scratch.

My favorite rub right now is the “Iandian Tandori Grilling Rub.” I rubbed this over raw chicken and let it sit for 2-20 hours before grilling. Delicious! Then, I just add veggies to compliment my dish! This week I traveled around the world without ever leaving my apartment!
