Recipe: Barbequed Drumsticks

Memorial Weekend is here and I can already smell the barbeque burning! I have always wanted to learn to make my own drumstick sauces and I have finally come up with some very tasty home-made recipes.

EASY BBQ DRUMSTICKS

Prep: 30 minutes

Grill: 13 minutes

Serves: 4

Ingredients:

  • 4 chicken drumsticks
  • 1 tbs vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbs chili powder
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup bottled chili sauce
  • 1 tbs Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbs cider vinegar
  • 1 tbs packed brown sugar

Method:

For bbq sauce

  • In a medium saucepan, heat oil over medium
  • Add onion and garlic
  • Stir in chili powder
  • Cook for 1 more minute
  • Stir in cola, ketchup, chili sauce, Worcestershire, vinegar, and brown sugar
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat
  • Simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes, or until desired consistency is reached

For charcoal or gas grill:

  • Place drumsticks on a covered grilling rack for 8 minutes
  • Brush with bbq sauce
  • Turn drumsticks and brush top layer with additional bbq sauce
  • Cover and grill for 5-6 more minutes or until thoroughly cooked
  • Serve with remaining bbq sauce
