Can’t seem to eat enough vegetables? Try Drinking them!
The USDA recommends that we eat 8-10 servings of vegetables a day, but how many of us actually do this? Let’s face it: We all know that veggies are good for us, but they are boring and take too long to chop, cook, and chew.
I have found an easy way to get my greens by drinking them. I know it sounds disgusting, but it honestly isn’t that bad. Plus, it leaves me feeling great afterwards!
Fiber is important for many reasons:
- It allows us to get rid of toxins and waste
- It allows us to retain water…helping us to stay hydrated
- It is slow-digesting and leaves us feeling satiated and feeling full for longer periods than other foods
- In the form of Vegetables, fiber contains important nutrients that are necessary for important chemical reactions within the body
Try my favorite green drink and get 4 servings of vegetables at once! You will need a blender for this one. Here is my recipe:
- 2 oz raw kale
- 2 oz raw spinach
- 2 celery stalks
- 1 medium-sized Persian cucumber
- 1/2 lemon (peel removed)
- 1 cup water
- 1/2-1 cup ice
Wow! 8-10 servings a day! Really?!?
I made your greens drink this morning. You are right…..it sounds kinda scary, but it actually tastes quite good and I felt great after! I am making another tomorrow!
