Eat Right for Your Blood Type

I enjoy studying the most popular nutrition strategies. Although I find most strategies to be ineffective, I was very pleased with the results that came about by eating right for my body type. I implemented this method into many of my clients eating regimes and was impressed with the programs overall effectiveness.

Now that I’m digging deeper into popular nutrition crazes, I have decided to focus my attention on eating right for my blood type. I am not sure if it is coincidence, but the foods suggested for my blood type just happen to synchronize, almost perfectly, with the foods that were recommended for my body type. I am interested in finding out whether this happens to be the case for you too.

If you followed my May blog, and followed my prescribed nutrition tips, then please give the following suggestions a shot and let me know whether the foods prescribed to you according to your blood type are similar to those prescribed for your body type. If the foods suggested differ, then please give this nutrition strategy a shot and let me know which plan was most helpful for you and your ability to get closer to your fitness goals.

Type O (this is me)

Type O is the “oldest” reported blood line. We have been around forever! Supposedly, we benefit from lean proteins, including lean meats, poultry, and fish. Our metabolisms don’t do well with grains, breads, and legumes (beans, lentils, peanuts). Vigorous exercise is highly recommended. This sounds like me all the way!

Type A is the ” agrarian” bloodline that reportedly performs the best on a vegetarian diet. People with type A blood efficiently digest soy proteins, grains, and organic vegetables. Slower and more gentle exercise is recommended. Who wants to go for a hike?!?

Type B has more nomadic roots. These people share a tolerant digestive system.  Low-fat dairy, meat, and produce are well-digested and absorbed. On the flip side,  wheat, corn, and lentils are much more difficult to digest. Moderate exercise is recommended.

Type AB is considered to be more modern. People with this blood type tend to have sensitive digestive tracts and digest meats poorly. That being said, Chicken, beef, and pork should be avoided. Seafood, tofu, dairy, and most produce is metabolized well, so these proteins and carbohydrates should be emphasized. Calming exercise is suggested for those who are type AB. Where is th nearest yoga studio?!?
